Invoice reminders compared: Xero, QuickBooks, Stripe, Chaser and Paidnice
If you look after the books for many small businesses, you have probably tried the reminders already built into your software. This page sets out what they do, what the dedicated tools cost, and where DueChase fits. We read each vendor's own pages on 16 October 2026. Plans change, so every row links to its source.
Reminders built into your accounting software
Their help pages describe email reminders only. For one business with steady payers, they may be all you need.
| Product | What the reminders do | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Xero | Up to 5 reminders per organisation, on one schedule shared by every customer. The default is 3 reminders, at 7, 14 and 21 days after the due date. Email only. | Vendor page |
| QuickBooks Online | Up to 3 automatic reminders, each set anywhere from 90 days before to 90 days after the due date. One template is used for all of them. Only invoices that were already emailed are covered. | Vendor page |
| Stripe Invoicing | Automatic reminders from a list of preset schedules, before, on or after the due date. Stripe's page states no maximum number. The fee is 0.4% per paid invoice on the Starter plan, plus card processing. | Vendor page |
| FreshBooks | Up to 3 automated reminder emails, set in days before or after the due date, per client or per invoice. | Vendor page |
Dedicated chasing tools
| Product | Entry price | What to know | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chaser | From $259 a month (Compact) | Compact covers businesses with annual revenue up to $5M, 4 users and 100 SMS credits a month, and does not include multi-entity. Core is $779 a month and adds multi-entity. Partner pricing for accountants is not published. | Vendor page |
| Paidnice | From $69 a month (Essentials) | Essentials covers 150 new invoices and 600 emails a month, 2 team members, email and SMS. Each plan covers one Xero organisation or QuickBooks company. On Pro plans an extra entity costs $29 a month. SMS is $0.10 a message in the US. | Vendor page |
| Upflow | No public prices | Every plan says to ask for a quote. It covers email, SMS, call and letter reminders and connects to Xero and QuickBooks. | Vendor page |
Prices are US dollars per month, excluding tax. Chaser and Paidnice list other currencies too. We did not check the subscription prices of Xero or QuickBooks themselves.
Where DueChase fits
DueChase is for the person looking after many businesses. It shows every client's overdue invoices in one view, sends reminders by email and then SMS on a schedule you set, and holds each reminder for your approval before it goes out.
The pilot prices are $49 a month for up to 8 clients and $99 a month for up to 25 clients, and they may change while we learn from the pilot.
It is early. Today you bring invoices in by CSV export from Xero, QuickBooks or Stripe. A direct Xero connection is in progress, and QuickBooks comes after that.
How to choose
If you run the books for one business and its customers mostly pay on time, use the reminders in your accounting software.
If you need email and SMS for a single business and want a dedicated tool at a lower entry price than Chaser, Paidnice at $69 a month is worth a look.
If you manage many small clients and want one place to see and approve every reminder, join the DueChase pilot and tell us what you need.
